The principal duties of the Music Directors are as follows: 

  • to create concert programs in keeping with the vision and values of the ECOC.
  • to plan and direct efficient rehearsals.
  • to communicate regularly with members regarding rehearsal and concert expectations and arrangements.
  • to ensure the highest possible musical standards are achieved both at rehearsals and performances, consistent with the ECOC’s musical and financial resources.
  • to provide in a timely manner to the ECOC Board all details reasonably required and requested for producing printed programs and marketing material; scheduling rehearsals and concerts; programming concerts; and ordering music.
  • to attend board meetings as requested and to advise and assist the Board in the artistic direction of the ECOC where solicited.
  • to communicate regularly with the ECOC Board regarding any and all pertinent aspects of creating a successful musical experience. 

All members of the Evanston, Wyoming community, high school age and older, are invited to either

  • Play in the Evanston Civic Orchestra or
  • Sing in the Evanston Civic Chorus

Auditions are not required, and membership is not limited to Evanston residents.  Musicians from nearby towns in Wyoming and Utah are welcome!

*Potential orchestra members should have a moderate degree of training/experience in playing music.

General Information

Participation

All participants must register for each session and provide contact information. Registration will be activated several weeks prior to the beginning of the session. The online registration form is short and straightforward. If you have questions, please email us.

Sessions

The ECOC typically has a fall session and a spring session followed by a summer break.  Occasionally, we perform during the summer, but rehearsals are limited.

Member Dues

Dues are collected before each session to help pay for music, the director, concertmaster, the accompanist, marketing, and other expenses.  Members choosing to pay for the entire year in the fall receive a discount.

  • Fall or Spring Session:  $25 Adults; $20 Students 
  • Fall & Spring Sessions Combined:   $45 Adults; $35 Students (sessions paid in the fall)
